Swiss „Naked Bullet“ Team ready to shoot!

Swiss 2007 Bonneville-Record racer Markus Saegesser aims for the BUB 201 mph Club – on a naked V-Twin!

Yes, it is true: When you have been at the Bonneville Salt Flats, you WILL be bitten by the „Salt Bug“. Swiss-based Bonneville enthusiast Markus Saegesser (www. MarkusSaegesser.ch) has never forgotten the thrill and excitment of his first visit at the BUB Speed Trials (www.speedtrialsbybub.com), held exclusively for motorcycle in the last week of August. This years edition is coming up rapidly from August 27th to September 1st – and the swiss race-ace has assembled an international team of specialists for his new record attempts: Remo Bernasconi of Malters/Switzerland based „Coni’s Custom Chopper Project (www.cccp.ch) is THE best swiss adress for hard-core rigid-framed custombikes. He created the rolling chassis that will be powered by an engine from the workbench of german V-Twin engine legend (and multiple AHD/Top Gas Super Twins Drag Racing Champion) Bernd Kramer (www.kramermis.de) and his Milwaukee Iron Shop Team.

The engine boasts an estimated 180+ hp out of 2.150 cc. Rumour has it, that the weight of the bike has been dropped to an incredible 119 kg! „We will prepare for all eventualities“, says Markus, „if weight has to be added for traction, we can do that safely, but we will start with a minimum of weight and a maximum of power“. Starting in the Non-Streamlined class from 2.000 to 3.000 cc he will need every horse he can get, as this is a class that has seen many strong competitors in the past.

The „Naked Bullet“ target is as ambitious as you can set a target at Bonneville: 201 mph (=323.478 km/h)! No „naked“ (means: non-streamlined without fairing) V-Twin has ever done that and the probably only man ever achieving a 200+ mph record on a naked bike was Scott Horner who recently raced his stripped „Hayabusa“ to a stunning 210.707 mph / 339.101 km/h in September 2010.

Saturday, Juli 23rd 2011 will see the introduction of the finished bike at the Malters workshop of CCCP. These images show the bike as it appeared on May 8th 2011 at the Swiss LOVE RIDE 19. You can follow the efforts and racing of the „Naked Bullet“ Team on www.NakedBullet.ch.
